Rob Finlay's passion for racing developed just one year ago, but since then the driver and team owner has worked ceaselessly to continue doing what he loves. He went to racing school, then wasted no time in moving up to the Grand-Am Cup Series with his own team, Finlay Motorsports.

Despite being a rookie in the sport, Finlay set his sights early on a Daytona Prototype, and in 2005 he will be heading up his own team in the class. The No. 19 BMW Riley will be run under the banner of Ten Motorsports, a subsidiary of Finlay Motorsports.

Finlay will concentrate on his leadership role with the team, leaving the driving to veterans Memo Gidley and Michael McDowell.

"My background is more in business and finance though I've always had a passion for sports cars. I was able to fulfill that passion," said Finlay. "This past year I went to Bondurant and was so hooked that I had to jump right into it. I met up with Michael McDowell, who's actually one of the instructors. We started racing Grand-Am Cup and it has developed from that. For most people who really get into the sport, once it hits you, it hits you full force. While I wanted to continue running in Grand-Am Cup, I also really enjoyed the excitement of the prototype racing. So that's why for this year we're running not only Grand-Am Cup, but we're also running the prototype team, which unfortunately I'm not going to be driving this year."
