GT Rising Star of the Year Award: Justin Marks
Page: 1 Links asked all season long teams, all officials, and a long list of members of the media to vote on the 2004 awards. The results have been tabulated and the final awards have been announced. The award categories included Rising Star Awards in all classes of Grand American Rolex and Grand Am Cup, Crew Chief of the Year Awards in all classes of Grand American Rolex and Grand Am Cup, and Paint Scheme of the Year in Grand American Rolex and Grand Am Cup.

In GT the voting for Rising Star of the Year Award saw two teammates, and former co-drivers, battling it out for top honors. In the end it was Justin Marks who took home the title as Rising Star of the GT class.
35% - Justin Marks
26% - Joey Hand
9% - RJ Valentine

Justin Marks and Joey Hand started out the season as co-drivers. After five of the twelve races, Marks and Hand split up, each getting their own veteran ace as a finisher. Hand got Said and Marks got Auberlen. Marks and Auberlen flourished winning four of the last seven races. During the season it seemed that Mark's contribution to the wins got overshadowed by his high profile teammate's role in the wins, but post season his peers and members of the media recognized his efforts with this award.

For 2005 Marks is rumored to be staying put at the Team PTG effort as they attempt to defend their GT class title against a strong lineup from a combined SGS and GT field.
