The Hankook United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC)announced 11 of the 13 races with 2 to be finalized that will make up the 2006 USTCC Season.
The release of the 2006 schedule shows the series carrying over the strength and momentum of the 2005 season. The 2006 schedule will again feature a number of very notable high profile race dates, with a return to an old favorite as a season opener, a brand new venue, two return dates to the Pacific Northwest, a return to the Sin City and the first race for the series outside the country.
For the first time since 2001, the series will return to Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca in Monterey, California where the 2006 Championship will begin on March 10-12 in conjunction with the 1st inaugural visit of the A1 Grand Prix World Cup of Motorsports open wheel racing series in the U.S.
Then the following month on April 1-2 after a three week break, the USTCC series will head south of the border to Mexico for the Mexicali GP. This will be the series' first headliner race weekend and will be on the street of the city of Mexicali. The first East Coast race will be on April 21-23 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Ohio. For the May Classic, the series will visit for the first time the brand new state-of-the-art Miller Motorsport Park in Utah, where it will host the series' second Annual East-West Shoot Out on May 20-21. The series will contest the shoot out on the complete 4.5 mile road course, currently the longest road course in the United States. Then off to BeaveRun Motorsport Complex, Big Beaver Borough, PA on June 10-11.
