Behind the Scenes with Charles Espenlaub
The 2006 season proves to be exciting and challenging for Charles Espenlaub. He won the season opener of the Grand-Am Cup 200 at Daytona International Speedway with teammate Eric Lux in the No. 44 Team Sahlen / Porsche 996. Espenlaub also runs a full season in the Speed World Challenge Touring Series in his No. 97 Tindol Motorsports/ Mazda 6. Currently, he is ninth in driver's points with one pole and five top-five finishes. During non-race weekends, the talented driver keeps his racing skills sharp by serving as an instructor for the Panoz Racing School in Florida. He also finds time to coach and test drive for various teams and drivers.

Respected by the racing community, Charles is fierce and competitive behind the wheel. Quick witted and always paying attention to detail, Charles makes a point of never taking himself too seriously. Always willing to lend a helping hand, don't be surprised to see Charles working on his Tindol Motorsports car or helping his fellow crew members.

Born and raised in Tampa Florida, Charles now resides in Lutz, Florida. His two-story home was originally built by his late father. The beautiful rustic house overlooks Dawson Lake where Charles fishes and boats. Similar to many pro-drivers, Espenlaub is always traveling. But when he is in town, he enjoys refurbishing his home. A nature and animal lover, Charles has befriended many of the small creatures that have inhabited his land including squirrels, raccoons, possums, turtles and foxes.
