Tooele, UT (2 October 2008) -One of the very first Ford Mustang FR500S machines to take to the track will now be the first to take to the stage as part of the debut Las Vegas staging of the Barrett-Jackson Auction. The No. 00 Media Car, which was piloted by 1989 Trans-Am Champion Dorsey Schroeder during the inaugural Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup event weekend at Road Atlanta in May, will be auctioned as part of the first-ever Barrett-Jackson event in Las Vegas on October 17th.

Schroeder served as the Grand Marshall for the Road Atlanta Mustang Challenge event, and in addition to waving the green flag and providing the drivers some insights, back stories, and encouragement, he also gave several media members rides in the FR500S as part of the opening weekend activities.

The Mustang, number 32 of 75 FR500S machines built in advance of the 2008 Mustang Challenge season, didn't just do show-car duty, as it also saw racing action at the hands of a variety of guest and media drivers during the 2008 season. As the car hits the bright lights in one final race to the gavel, the Mustang will be in familiar company up on stage, as Schroeder will be on hand as part of the auction.

I'm really looking forward to being a part of this auction and introducing the car and the series to a whole new group of people, said Schroeder. Something I learned a long time ago was that the Ford Mustang isn't just an icon, and it's not just a passion for thousands of people, but it's also a family. And I'm pretty excited to meet the folks who buy this car. It's always fun to see the family get bigger!

Hailed as "The World's Greatest Collector Car Events"," the Las Vegas auction will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center and feature hundreds of desirable collector vehicles and lavish lifestyle events, while SPEED cameras capture live, high-definition coverage. The Barrett-Jackson event is produced by Lingner Group Productions, which was also tapped for the WHY WE RACE-THE FORD RACING MUSTANG CHALLENGE for HD Theatre, which will debut on December 7 at 8:00 PM ET.
