The Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona has been underway for eight hours now, and five cars are still on the lead lap with front-runner Joao Barbosa in the No. 59 Brumos Racing Porsche Riley. Scott Dixon is five seconds behind in the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Lexus Riley, but he's got Timo Bernhard hot on his trail behind the wheel of the No. 16 Penske Racing Porsche Riley.

The fourth hour of the race got started with the fourth caution period thanks to the No. 55 Level 5 Motorsports BMW Riley, which lost a tire on the banking. The pit stops shuffled the leaders, and at the restart it was AJ Allmendinger in front at the helm of the No. 6 Michael Shank Racing Ford Riley.

At the end of the fifth hour, though, Allmendinger came to a stop on track with suspected electrical problems. It was a stroke of bad luck for the Michael Shank entry, but Ryan Briscoe was happy to inherit the lead for his No. 16 Penske Porsche.

There were two more cautions, but eventually a pattern began to emerge: the lead has been shuffled back and forth between the two Brumos Racing Porsche Rileys, the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Lexus Riley, and the No. 16 Penske Racing Porsche Riley. At this point, any of them could wind up with the win& or none of them, since Daytona never plays favorites. If nothing else, the folks at Riley have got to be patting themselves on the back.
