Rolex Grand-Am GT Special Report - Bosch Engineering 250 GT Race Report (April 28th, 2009) By Jim Bourn

"We did not know what to expect coming into this season, having chased after a championship last year and just coming up short. Last year we were pumped up and it is hard to better that. It is really nice to get a win under our belt this early in the new season." - Robin Liddell

Liddell, Davis and the Stevenson Pontiac win their 2nd straight at VIR

The 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No.16 season finally got started after a 3 month layover at VIRginia International Raceway as Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell over came all GT competitors and near record heat to win their second straight at VIR in the No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports/Bryan Mark Financial Pontiac GXP.R.

Davis and Liddell demonstrated quite clearly how much they love Southern Virginia as they out lasted the #07 Banner Pontiac GXP.R of Kelly Collins and Paul Edwards for another hard fought Grand-Am GT win. The 1-2 Pontiac finish put Davis, Liddell, Collins and Edwards all into a dead heat for the Drivers' Championship with 30 points each.

"It was one of our best races," said Davis. "There were no big dramas or events that gave us extra luck, and we ran a mistake free race outside of a minor problem with the belts during the first driver change. We lost a little bit of time there but Robin got back the positions soon enough in a great battle with Paul Edwards. When Paul made a slight mistake Robin passed him and we held the lead from there."
