Bryce Miller will have a short commute this week - just a 4.5-hour drive from his home in Summit, N.J., to Watkins Glen, N.Y., where he'll compete in a six-hour Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race on Saturday. Miller, Dane Cameron (Sonoma, Calif.) and Peter Ludwig (New Paltz, N.Y.) will alternate driving stints in the No. 30 Mazda RX-8 prepared by Racers Edge Motorsports.

Miller believes the Mazda will perform well on the 3.4-mile, 11-turn Watkins Glen International road course.

"The track is a lot of fun! It has lots of high-speed segments and long straightaways where the draft comes into play. That makes for good action on the track, with good passing opportunities and good hard braking zones," he noted.

"I think the Mazda can do really well at that track because of all the high-speed segments. It seems to really like to run in high-speed, sweeping turns, so The Glen will probably be a pretty good track for it."

Miller also likes the six-hour race format, which will require several driver changes and a more complex strategy than the usual series race length of two hours 45 minutes.

"I enjoy the longer races," he acknowledged. "Other than [the Rolex 24 At] Daytona, this is it. There's always more pressure on the team and the drivers, and long races can be a little bit more stressful because so much more can go wrong. But if the results can come together for the team, it makes it really enjoyable."

The six-hour Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, from 2:15 pm to 8:15 pm ET on the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen International road course in Watkins Glen, N.Y. The race will be telecast live on SPEED from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8:30 pm ET.
