Bitter Pill: Involuntary Break for Andreas Wirth Due to Illness
Sadly, Andreas Wirth will have an unplanned pit-stop this weekend as the ADACT GT Masters heads into the penultimate round of competition at the Nürburgring.
After a season filled with luck that went from bad to worse, this is a particularly frustrating development for the #27 Callaway Corvette duo, as Wirth is considered by some to be the expert at Nürburgring. In the past three years, Wirth has been victorious each season, and cherishes all four wins in the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring.
"This is the first time in my entire racing career that I have to miss a race weekend due to illness. Unfortunately, my doctor has grounded me and I have no choice," said a very disappointed Wirth.
"Of course health has to come first, even when the timing is extremely inconvenient. I have to concentrate now on getting well quickly, because the finale is at my home race at Hockenheim is at the end of the month. It will be torture for me to have to watch this weekend as a spectator from home, but I'll be tuned in to Kabel1 with my fingers crossed for the Heinz-Harald, Henry and the Callaway team!"
