Washington, D.C. -- The Cadillac Grand Prix announced the final eight additions to its celebrity race to be held on Saturday, July 20, 2002 during the three-day event in the nation¹s capitol. Stars of the stage and screen as well as musicians and politicians will drive in the first-ever celebrity race on the 1.7-mile track on the parking lots of RFK stadium.
The final field of celebrities includes:
William Shatner, "Star Trek;" U.S. Senator, Colorado, Ben Nighthorse-Campbell "Coolio;" rap star and actor Steve Harwell, lead singer, "Smashmouth" Ian Ziering , "Beverly Hills 90210" star Dule Hill, NBC¹s "The West Wing" Tim Matheson , NBC¹s "The West Wing" Kim Alexis, Supermodel Pierre Thuot, NASA astronaut Brad Whitford, "Aerosmith" Melissa Joan Hart, "Sabrina: The Teenaged Witch."
Washington's popular radio personalities, Mark Kessler, Classic Rock 94.7, and Jimmy Alexander, Mix 107.3 will represent the local media.
The celebrity race is Tentatively set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 following the SPEED World Challenge Touring race. The event will feature a match-racing format in pairing each celebrity with a professional driver. The celebrity and the professional will each drive one lap the best-combined team time will be the winner.
