Ken Dobson, of Sonoma, Calif., won Round Three of the Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Pacific Tour at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Completing the top-three was Bobby Carter, of Stockton, Calif., and Jon Davies, of Hood River, Ore.

Commencing mid-afternoon under a bright sky, the 28-car field took the green flag. Starting on pole, Carter maintained the lead exiting turn one ahead of Dobson and Justin Hall. Benefiting from Dobson and Hall battling for position, Carter built a multi-car gap on second place.

Pushing the car to the limits, Dobson steadily reduced the gap on the leader. Getting a good draft, Dobson took the lead on lap four. The following lap, the field was given a full-course caution for a car in the gravel trap in turn five. On the lap six restart, Dobson maintained the lead, as Carter and Hall went side-by-side in turns one and two.

Running in close formation the lead group battled for position around the 2.238-mile road course. Entering turn two on lap nine, Dobson went wide relinquishing the lead to Hall. Rejoining in second place, Dobson was immediately under attack from Steve Ott.

As numerous drivers battled for position, a full-course caution was shown on lap 14 for a car off-course. On the following lap, the field was given the green flag, going three-wide into the opening turns. Holding off a hard charging Dobson, Hall maintained the lead. Repeatedly challenging for the lead, Dobson took the lead on lap 18, ahead of Carter and Davies. For the remainder of the race, the lead trio maintained position, with Dobson taking the win by 0.964-second.
