Driver Scott Bradley Says Race Weekend in Cleveland Was a Winner

Circuit City/ Protomotive Team Finishes 13 in Round Five of SWC

Santa Clara, CA - June 29, 2005 - With a 13th place finish and mechanical issues hopefully behind them, driver Scott Bradley says he and the Circuit City/Protomotive team had one of the most successful weekends so far on the track at Burke Lakefront Airport raceway in Cleveland, Ohio. The June 24-26 race weekend was round five of the SPEED World Challenge touring car series.

"Since I joined the Protomotive team last year, this was probably one of the best weekends we've had," said Bradley. "Between our last race at Mid-Ohio at the end of May and this one, we were able to get some key mechanical issues sorted out. Coming into this race, I was anticipating a productive weekend."

He said the Mazda 6 ran well in practice with the crew making major changes to find the car optimum setup window. However, the changes went a little too far prior to qualifying, which resulted in a less than desirable 20th place starting position. Driven to be the best, Bradley said even with the challenges and poor qualifying position, they "learned a great deal and knew we'd have a pretty good set-up come race time."

When a starter motor failed right before the race and there was no time to respond immediately, Protomotive was forced to give up grid position and start dead last (27th) from the pit lane. With the temperatures in the 90s and high humidity, Bradley knew his training had prepared him well and he would have the advantage. "When the other drivers start to get hot and tired and begin making mistakes I knew I'd be in a position to take advantage."
