Countdown tot he ADAC Masters series has begun

The countdown for the ADAC GT Masters/TCR Germany/Formula 4 started at Oschersleben this week with three day testing schedule for all categories. The TCR Germany will be the strongest Touring Car Series in Europe with 44 entered cars from seven countries and six different manufacturers. With 16 Audi TCR RS3’s the marque from Ingolstadt has been strongly represented. South African Sheldon van der Linde was the quickest man during the three day sessions. Last year the ADAC Formula 4 even had record number of entries but due too many incidents with the single seater guys the number of entries has been reduced to just 26 cars to get some proper racing and this was not always the case in 2016. Christopher Mies and Conor De Philippi will defend their 2016 title but will get heavy opposition to repeat it. Former DTM driver Maxi Götz has come back to the scene and will be driving a Mercedes AMG GT3 together with fellow countryman Patrick Assenheimer. But on the other side BMW Motorsport has officially entered a brand new BMW M6 GT3 for Team Schnitzer with Austrian Philipp Eng and Briton Ricky Collard. With the presence of BMW works engineers the level for the other teams will be considerably raised during the season. That’s a clear fact. The Twin Busch Team with the German Busch brothers has left the VLN and come to the ADAC GT series as well. They brought along sponsorship for the series as well! The strangest combination comes from Mücke Motorsport. The Mücke Team enters a Mercedes AMG GT3 for Stefan Mücke/Sebastian Asch and an Audi for Mike Ortmann/Frank Stippler. Youngster Ortmann decided to leave his F1 dream at an early stage in his career and move to GT Racing. With the experienced Frank Stippler he has an ideal partner alongside him for guidance. Mücke has always been Mercedes related and Berlin sponsor BWT Audi. And this caused the co-operation between all parties. It is going to be an exciting ADAC Masters season in 2017
