New for the 2004 race season and unique to Quebec is the Toyota Echo Pirelli Cup. The Quebec Toyota Dealer Association and Pirelli teamed up to create the championship. All of the series sponsors have committed to a minimum 3-year agreement. More than twenty Toyota Echo Hatchbacks compete in the twelve-race championship sanctioned by the Federation Auto Quebec. Several modifications have been made to the cars to enhance performance and safety. Some of these modifications include a six-point roll cage, aluminum suspension braces, slotted brake rotors, cat-back performance exhaust system, and fiberglass race seat. The first 20 cars purchased for the series were sold for $20,000 Canadian. The price included taxes, transportation and even a driving suit, gloves and racing shoes which were made possible through subsidies from series sponsors. The event at Trois Rivieres was won by former World Challenge competitor Stéphane Trahan.
