In contrast to the 19 Years old Vanthoor Winkelhock had an relatively easy stint. In the opening stages Winkelhock enjoyed a fine battle with the Phoenix Audi R8 LMS from Frank Stippler. The Phoenix Audi R8 LMS from Stippler/Schmidtmann finished 5th behind the Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3 from Tresson/Morris/Lambertz. The second Walkenhorst M6 crashed out at the GP track. In the closing stages the difference between the leading Audi R8 LMS and Black Falcon Mercedes was just 4 secs. The Manthey Porsche from Matteo crashed heavily with another competitor. Both drivers were unhurt. BMW has been testing for a while with the evolution M6 at the Nordschleife. According their appearance was not focussed on results. Driver Phillipp Eng made lengthy stops for a coffee and data readouts……. The brand new 2018 Nissan GT3 raced in the hands of Tom Coronel and Michael Krumm but managed to do a few laps only due to a misfiring engine unfortunately. And in the paddock we also spotted the brand new Porsche 911 GT3 in GTE trim on Friday.
