Andrew S. Hartwell joined TheRaceSite.com in 2003 as he penned articles about Grand Am and ALMS. ASH's unique style of writing can be found under the articles titled: "Through the Esses".
"I have been married to my lovely wife Shirley since 1972. Our son Christopher is 30 and is married to Michelle. I was always interested in cars as a teen and I used to love driving my '57 Chevy (totally stock) rather quickly along twisting and winding River Road in Head of the Harbor - an exclusive area on the north shore of Long Island. I first started writing about sportscar racing in the early 1970's and then took a nearly 20 year break to be a parent and find my way in the corporate world. I came back to sportscar racing in 1994 when I saw a photo of the Ferrari 333SP. It reminded me of the Can-Am cars and so I was hooked all over again.
I was the Senior Editor, Sportscars at the now defunct All Race Magazine. Until moving to TheRaceSite.com, I was a regular contributor to dailysportscar.com - dating back to when it started out as sportscarworld.com, then later became supersportscarworld.com, then totalmotorsport.com. I have spoken with so very many people in the sport and I take more interest in them than I do in any of the engineering aspects of racing. I simply love the variety and diversity found in 'our' kind of automobile racing and I love to talk to the people who make the cars go!"
